Day 61

Hey all!

Today I was having kind of a bad day but in the last few hours it has managed to turn completely around.  Thank goodness.  First of all, putting my blog up on facebook has gotten me 25 new hits in the last hour or so.  Hi there, facebook friends!  Second of all, I had a nice little clue that someone's been reading my blog (thanks Marissa!) which really made my day.  Third of all, and most importantly, I made a bracelet that I am in love with.

For all who don't know, let me tell you a fun fact about myself.  I love antiquing.  Antique and consignment stores tie with bookstores as my favorite places to waste the day away.  Coupled with my love of baking, you might just draw the conclusion that I'm a little old lady rather than a college student.

But anyways, I grew up in a town with lots of antique stores and a mother who loves jewelry.  In a small town without much else to do, why wouldn't I go searching for cool old brooches?  I have incorporated one of my finds into this bracelet.  Antiques are so cool because they have a story.  Even if you don't know any details, you can let your imagination run wild.

Maybe this brooch was worn in the 1920s by a fabulous flapper.  Maybe it was worn by a woman in the 1940s as her husband came back from war.  It's almost better when you don't know the story, when the possibilities are endless.

I hope you love it as much as I do.  I'm probably going to wear it tomorrow and I may or may not plan my outfit around the bracelet.  Such is the life of a jewelry designer (I think after 4 years of making jewelry and 61 days of blogging I've earned the title, don't you?).

Now, as promised, a picture of my bananagrams costume at tonight's Purim carnival.  Refer to yesterday's post for details.

I hope you like it!  I made the word Purim then let my friend play human bananagrams on me with the remaining letters.  Clearly a good time was had by all.

Love and Beads,
Eve
