An Apology and Another Skip Day

Hey all!

I am so sorry for 1. not blogging yesterday, 2. not announcing that I was skipping a day and 3. skipping another day today.  I am SO busy with work this week and I have been slacking a little in the time-management department.  I know it will all get done because I won't allow myself to not hand something in, but I am just struggling to finish.  Sadly for all of you, school comes before blogging.  Forgive me and see you soon I hope!

Love and Beads,
Eve

Day 50

Hey all!

50 days, wow.  That's a pretty momentous occasion.  How did I celebrate?  By making centerpieces all day with a friend for a dinner, letting those creative juices flow.  If you were wondering whether or not I made it to Starbucks bright and early this morning I will tell you that yes indeed I did but being particularly productive is another story.

Now here I am, tired from dinner, food coloring on my hands from the colored water in the centerpieces, ready to tell you about today's earring creation and then collapse into bed.  Ready?  Go!

Day 49

Hey all!

Today was a stressful day, or more accurately, a day of ignoring everything and keeping the stress in the back of my mind.  I had big plans to get a lot done and wound up doing other things until 8 when I watched tv and fell asleep at 9ish.  Oy.  What I did manage to do was peel my finger a little as I was peeling potatoes.  Have I mentioned my klutziness before?  Such a problem.

I woke up an hour ago, finished laundry and made earrings.  Tomorrow is a productive day, mark my words!  I will wake up with the sun, go to Starbucks, and be successful!

24 February 2011

Day 48

Hey all!

We have to stop meeting like this.  By "like this" I mean at approximately 2 am when I am half asleep.  I'm such a college student.

Today was such a lovely day.  I woke up late, went to the bead store with a friend (and loyal blog reader :-) ) and then we went out for thai food.  Then I took a nap.  A NAP people!  I don't do naps, my body doesn't usually allow me to sleep when it's light out.  It was glorious.  Then I had an evening class, came home and  made some delicious soup.  Great day!

For today's earrings I used some beads I got today along with my favorite gold chain (which I got more of at this bead store).

23 February 2011

Day 47

Hey all!

This is going to be quick because I'm tired.  Make that I'm so tired I had to take a 15 minute power nap before I could bring myself to make some earrings.  The earrings I made use really cool beads but I'm not completely satisfied with the way I used them.  My lack of brain function at the moment means I need to come back to them tomorrow.  Think of them as a first draft of awesome earrings.

22 February 2011

Day 46

Hey all!

Well another day has gone by with minimal productivity but much fun... such is senior year of college.  I went to Barnes & Noble with a friend and with good intentions.  Obviously I sat on my computer and read some books and completed about a sentence of my reading for class.  But it was fun!

One of the best distractions ever is tastespotting.  Seriously, look at it right now.  It's basically a database of recipes updated everyday.  It's really fantastic except when I'm trying to do homework.  Attempted homework quickly turned into recipe finding and risotto making.  Worth it?  Definitely.

20 February 2011

Day 45

Hey all!

I am currently on a bus waiting to get back from my jaunt into Pennsylvania.  Don't you love those new fangled buses with wifi?  Anyways, I have had a full day of travel, ending with the bus I'm on which was almost an hour late.  I will be back soon thank goodness, but it was worth it.  I had a great weekend!

The earrings I made today were actually created as we waited in a bus station in somewhere-or-other Pennsylvania.  I'm sure the people around me thought it was strange as I whipped out wire and pliers but I didn't care.

19 February 2011

Day 44

Hey all!

Another rogue blog post from Pennsylvania!  We walked around the downtown area today, going in and out of shops and cafes.  It was windy but nice enough to walk around, which is a great treat in February.  Best part:  bead store!

I got a bunch of new beads!  That alone makes today a success.

18 February 2011

Day 43

Hey all!

Today I am blogging to you from my friend Sarah's house in Pennsylvania (I promised a name drop).  I'm having a fabulous time so far and the weather has been uncharacteristically amazing.  I mean, it's February and it was a sunny 60-something degrees today... amazing!

We are now watching "Enchanted" as I report to you, and I should probably get on with this so I can get back to the movie.

The earrings I made today are long and lovely.

Day 42

Hey all!

Wow, I'm so sorry to be so late today (or early the next morning) but I maintain that I haven't missed a day if I still haven't gone to sleep.

Considering it's almost 2 am I should probably get on with it already so I can sleep.  I'm going to visit my friend tomorrow and I will be rogue blogging and earring-making from there for the weekend.

The earrings I made today have premade flowers.  I hope you don't think it's cheating!

16 February 2011

Day 41

Hey all!

I'm back and better than ever!  Well... back at least.  My cold has pretty much subsided thank goodness, so I only have to stress about school and not my health.  Today I had another bake sale, tried to get stuff done, then had class.  After I blog I need to continue trying to be productive.  Then I should probably sleep.

I made today's earrings with these beads I got from Denmark when I was there over the summer.  I love Denmark a lot, but that's a separate tangent that I sadly don't have time for.  I was pretty sure it was a tangent I'd already gone on but after looking through past entries I'm not so sure.  In the time it took me to do that, I could have been raving about Scandinavia.  Shoot!

15 February 2011

Another Skip Day

Hey all!

I'm sorry to have to pull another one of these but I need to skip today.  Not only am I scrambling to do schoolwork but my sneeziness has turned into a full-blown cold.  I took a NAP.  That is some major only-when-I'm-sick stuff.  And now at 10 o'clock I'm ready for bed.  Forgive me won't you?  It's just that time of year.  Stay healthy!

Love and Beads,
Eve

Day 40!

Hey all!

I can't believe I've been on this quest for 40 days already.  That's a whole lot of earrings, a couple necklaces and a couple bracelets (and a cake).  Sure, I've been past midnight a couple days and I have skipped one day so far, but it's been a great and successful ride so far!

Today (yesterday if we're being literal) was Valentine's day.  In honor of it I had a class presentation.  About art history.  So really it just felt like a Monday.  I did go to trivia night with some friends though, so it turned into a nice Monday after all.

I decided that my most successful earrings in the past 40 days have been those with pre-fabricated rings or frames, such as day 34.  I am running low on those at the moment and can't seem to find them online but I found a couple differently shaped frames to use for today's earrings.

14 February 2011

Day 39: Another Necklace!

Hey all!

I'm straddling that midnight line yet again, so please forgive me.  Today I slept really late then went to my friend's apartment for cooking, baking, and two movies.  Last night was productive so today I got to reap the benefits.  It was great.

The only productive part of the day was when I sent out some emails and wrote some cover letters.  I'm trying to get everything together to get some fabulous internship or job this summer.  Dear art gallery/ museum/ library, please hire me!

I made another necklace today.  I am getting over my fear and laziness, slowly but surely.

12 February 2011

Day 38

Hey all!

Today I'm in a bit of a blogging rush, so forgive me.  I spent the day doing homework and watching tv shows online.  Exciting stuff.

The earrings I whipped up today are a little odd but really fun.  To preface:  my favorite thing to do in class is fiddle with my earrings.  It's always nice to have something to do when I'm bored (but of course usually I'm taking notes...).  These earrings have moving parts, perfect to ward off boredom.

11 February 2011

Day 37

Hey all!

Not much to say about today, just a regular Friday where I try to get so much done but end up getting distracted along the way.  I cleaned up my room a little, because it's been about 2 weeks since the last hard core cleaning and the floor has started disappearing again.  Other than that it was pretty ordinary.

I tried to do something cool with these triangle beads today, but it did not work out.  One earring was longer than the other, and I didn't like them all that much so I decided to come back to them another time.

I looked through my beads and went in a different direction.

Day 36: A NECKLACE

Hey all!

Today I had class and then did some baking, gearing up for another bake sale tomorrow.  Chocolate chip scones, yum!  Now I'm listening to Flight of the Conchords and blogging.  What could be better?

If you didn't figure out from the title, I just want you to know that I've made waiting until after midnight for this post worth your while.  How so, you might ask?  It's a bird, it's a plane... no it doesn't even remotely look like those, it's a necklace!

09 February 2011

Day 35

Hey all!

Today I did some dollar store shopping and not much else.  Wednesdays are pretty silly because I don't have class until 6 pm so I don't feel the need to be productive until the evening.  I was a little productive in jewelry terms though because I made a new light box.  Now hopefully my pictures will be a little better (or they'll at least be free of window shades or printers in the background.

The earrings I made today were inspired by the color of my friend's scrubs.  She's a nursing student (and it's her birthday!) and I found these great green beads that match her scrubs perfectly.

08 February 2011

Day 34

Hey all!

Since I only had one class today I decided to go on adventures.  Namely going to the hardware store to see if they restocked their welding gloves...they had not.

Defeated and without any magical heat proof gloves, I made my way through the plaza to Barnes and Noble.  Going and reading beading books there has become a beloved pass time of mine.  I think someday I should probably actually buy one, but I pay for a coffee and then the guilt tends to subside.

I was reading a particularly awesome earring book called The Earring Style Book by Stephanie A. Wells and I got tons of new ideas.  I wanted to make sure to name drop her book because I made earrings very similar to some in her book and want to give credit where credit is due.  Here are the little gems:

Day 33

Hey all!

That's right people, I'm back on track!  Well actually I'm chasing time.  Will I make it before 12?  No one knows!  Meanwhile I'll just catch you up on all that you missed in my life.

I had a nice super bowl day which included chocolate cookies and delicious guacamole... and friends of course!  Today I woke up early to finish all that homework I had pushed until the last minute.  I succeeded and even had time to eat lunch before class, score!  This evening I went with some friends to trivia night at a local cafe, and though we didn't win we did know that the Nile flows North and that Hispaniola consists of Haiti and Dominican Republic.  The scope of questions went further than geography I just can't remember them.

Shoot it's 11:58 I better tell you about some earrings, and quick!

07 February 2011

...First Skip Day

Hey all...

I regret to inform you that I need to take my first allotted skip day.  Technically it's Monday already but if I had a piece of jewelry all ready for you right now it would be totally ok.  Unfortunately, I was a horrible time budgeter this weekend and I'm drowning in homework that needs to get done for tomorrow.  In addition, I'm fighting to keep my eyes open.  Not the best situation.  Don't worry about me, I will get it all done, but unfortunately the non-school portion of my life needs to take a hit.  I'll be back tomorrow (I guess technically my tomorrow is today, so I'll be back this evening) and hopefully I'll earn back your respect!

Love and Beads,
Eve

05 February 2011

Day 32

Hey all!

Today I woke up, went to lunch, hung out a lot and went grocery shopping.  Not a particularly exciting day, but I think I'll survive.

I won't lie, the earrings I made today were made in haste.  Regardless, I think they're pretty in their simplicity.

04 February 2011

Day 31

Hey all!

Today I made scones!  They were lovely, and I sold them at a bake sale.  Scones are so great because they're easy and delicious.  I didn't do all that much else today, but it was still a pretty nice day and there's still plenty left!

The earrings I made today use the Swarovski crystals I got at AC Moore a couple days ago.  The crystals came in a package of four colors that go together very well.  I decided to use all four of them in these earrings.

Day 30

Hey all!

I'm really sorry about being late!  I'm only a few minutes late, and it totally still counts as today but the timestamp will forever sell me out as late.

Today I had a full day with highlights including going to the movies and having class.  I guess only one of those counts as a real highlight, but just go with it.

The earrings I made today are super duper simple, but I love these beads and think they just stand best alone.  Plus I need to remind myself that not everyone likes big long crazy earrings so toning it down once in a while may be a good idea.

02 February 2011

Day 29

Hey all!

Today I had a snow day!  I got to hang out with friends, get a few beading supplies from AC Moore and hang out in Barnes and Noble reading books without buying them.  I also got butane to fill my blow torch!  Soon I can start working with my metal clay, but first I need to get some welding gloves to avoid catastrophic burns (I have a history of clumsiness).

Since I was in Barnes and Noble, it was inevitable that I would come across some beading books.  I got some new ideas, but most of them involve buying more beads which isn't in the cards for right now.  I did get some new hammering ideas though so here are the resulting earrings:

Day 28

Hey all!

Today was a snowy snowy day.  I love snow but I don't so much love the brown slush that forms on the ground soon after the snow falls.  If you just keep your head up and look at the trees, though, it's great.  So I looked up at the trees, went to class, and came home.  Not the most exciting of days but it sure was pretty (again, excluding the slush).

I found some red coral beads the other day lying around in my room and decided to make use of them today.
