Alright, well I regret to inform you that today when I was changing for the gym I accidentally broke the clasp off yesterday's bracelet. Clearly I'm still working out the kinks of bracelet making. They take much more wear and tear than earrings do.
The clasp was attached with a jump ring. Jump rings are wire rings that are slightly open when you buy them, then after you use them to attach things you pull the two sides in opposite directions and they are supposed to stay closed. Sounds complicated? Let's just say it's a delicate art that I have yet to master.
So after that little snafu I decided to get back to earrings.
The great thing about making my own earring hooks is that I can add a bead to them. I added a couple real turquoise beads to compliment one of the colors in those colorful beads. I got the turquoise and amethyst (the bottom bead) from the most enormous bead store I've ever been to. It's called Shipwreck Beads, in Washington state.
My father and I went on a trip to Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver a couple summers ago and we were going by rental car from one city to the next. There was a billboard on the side of the highway advertising the world's largest selection of beads or something to that effect, only a few miles away.
It was in a weird office building complex, we almost gave up looking because we thought we were in the wrong place. Finally though, we found it and it was just overwhelming. I'm talking like supermarket-sized. It was crazy.
There were beads in the sidewalk! Sorry for that tangent but I just needed to share. Now another picture of today's earrings, and I will be off!
Love and Beads,
Eve
