Day 13

Hey all!

I'm sitting here, on the couch, enjoying my last few days of winter break.  Downside:  the couch is pretty boring.  Upside:  I finished my daily earrings during the daylight hours so I actually got some good pictures.  Wahoo!

Here they are:

So, funny story.  These are the wiry crazy silver beads I used a couple days ago and told you came from Bern.  Well, they aren't actually from Switzerland.  I just realized they were in the bag marked Spain and are, in fact, from Barcelona.  Sorry for accidentally lying to you and going on about my love of Switzerland!  But here's the silver lining:  I get to talk about Barcelona a little!

This past summer I backpacked through Europe with my friend, and Barcelona was our start and endpoint, because my friend had family there.  There is nothing like seeing a foreign city through the eyes of a local.

A beautiful view of Barcelona from the stairs of a museum we found... and it turns out that was their free admission day!
We went on a walk/run with my friend's uncle, that took us through the olympic stadium!
Seriously, if I could only give one travel tip it would be to befriend a local or make some connection with a local in the city in which you are traveling.  You can a) understand the city and culture much better, b) have a better idea of what you absolutely must see and what you can miss, and c) you can just feel a lot more comfortable in this foreign environment.

Ok ok, off on a travel tangent.  Back to the earrings!  I used the crazy wiry beads, and chose to put three colorful beads hanging from the bottom.  I like this composition of one large bead on top and three hanging down.  I shook it up a little by mixing colors more than I usually do.

They're fun and colorful.  I'm really happy with them.  Also, I have an order of beads and an order of beading supplies in the mail.  I'm so excited to experiment with new things when they come!

Love and Beads,
Eve
