I'm Back to Say Bye, And On to the Next Adventure!

Hey!

I abandoned this project two years ago because making a piece of jewelry a day became too much after 100 or so days during my senior year of college.  I've done so much since then, and I just want to take a minute to share it all with you.  A lot has happened in two years, let me try to catch you up.

Here's a short life update:  I interned at an art gallery right after college.  After that, I interned at another art gallery, then I got a job at the first one!  I stayed there for a year and a half.  I learned so much about how the commercial art world functions, but a few months ago I decided it was time to move on.  I am now working at a nonprofit, and really enjoying it.  Phew, ok, do you feel caught up?

Some fun things have happened in my jewelry-making life as well!  I took an awesome silversmithing class at 3rd Ward in Brooklyn.  There, I learned some awesome techniques but also learned that it takes a whole lot of tools and materials to seriously silversmith.  I'd like to go back and take another class, but unfortunately I can't really use those new skills with my limited materials and space.

Hello Old Friends! And an Apology for Absentness.

Hey all!

I'm back, several months after promising you all a few more sweet days of earrings and blogging.  The end of college got really crazy, and I'm sorry to say that blogging and jewelry designing took a back seat.  Now, months later, I'm bored and hungry for a creative outlet.  So I'm back, at least for today.  Here's what you've missed in my life:

Summer:  This summer, I interned at an art gallery (wahoo!).  What a phenomenal (if predictable) thing for an Art History grad to do!  The gallery is in midtown, and the internship was a great experience.  I did database stuff, but also inventory of actual pieces of art in the warehouse.  Plus I made friends (my all-time favorite activity).  I also got to live in New York and take advantage of all the fun city goings-on.  I wasn't sure if I would be there for longer than the summer, which gave me this great carpe diem attitude.  It was fabulous.

Heads Up

Hey all!

As the last few weeks of college are upon me, the very reason I'm leaving the world of blogging is becoming the reason why I can't blog.  I'm skipping today and I might skip tomorrow because I have a ton to do, but I assure you these final 4 days will happen at some point in the near future.  There's just so much going on... wish me luck!

Day 96

Hey all!

Today was such a beautiful spring day.  I spent the whole day outside walking, throwing around a volleyball, and playing some frisbee.  I even got a little tan!  It's finally starting to feel like spring/summer and I love it.

I made a ring again today, but I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.  It's cool just like everything else I've made with the magical square wire, but I'm just not sure if I'm in love with it.  Maybe you will be?

Day 95

Hey all!
Today I had class and then a series of unfortunate events.  I can't even relay them to you right now, my day was just not going well.  Then I decided to make the best out of things, and coupled with some gorgeous weather and a successful meeting, the day pretty much turned around.

I decided it was ring time again this evening, mostly because I'm really tired and rings turn out really well with a lot less of a time commitment, if I'm being particularly honest.  I also want you to know that this ring is weird but I am in love with it.

Day 94

Hey all!

Today I got a filling redone, or something weird like that, at the dentist office.  I was wearing some earrings I made, and they commented that I should be an orthodontist because of my wirework.  Serious?  Joking?  I'm not sure, but I took it as the dentist form of a compliment.  And then I opened my mouth and let them drill my tooth.  Fun.

Afterwards, I went to the mall and got a dress for graduation and some "working girl pants."  I don't mean street worker pants, I'm talking about professional attire people!  I was really excited to finally find some professional pants, because I really need to start building up a work wardrobe.  Anyways, you're not here to hear about my shopping adventures, on to the earrings!

Day 93

Hey all!

I have an announcement.  It may be kind of abrupt, but I'm giving you a few days to adjust.  I made the executive decision to conclude the blog at Day 100.  I am in a sense failing in my mission, but I have been really successful on this journey so I don't necessarily consider it a failure.  As much as I like blogging, it is also a little stress everyday that I don't need as I finish up my last year in college and move onto the real world.  I force myself to stay awake until I've finished blogging, and if I miss it then my guilt complex kicks in.  It's becoming a burden rather than something fun.  So, I need to stop.  I hope you'll forgive me!  We still have a week left together, maybe longer if I miss a day.  I will not stop making jewelry, and I'll be better about updating my etsy.  Don't you forget about me!

This morning I decided to announce to you my decision, and to pair it with a ring.
